Kristin Mellema

Principal Interior Designer & Owner

A lifelong Iowan, Kristin Mellema grew up in small town Orange City, Iowa, which she currently calls home base. Kristin attended Dordt College before moving on to South Dakota State University to pursue her passion for Interior Design. She graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design and a minor in Business Administration.

Kristin began her professional career practicing commercial design at an architectural firm in Des Moines, Iowa, and later as an on-site designer at a large manufacturing company in central Iowa. In 2006 she launched her own design firm, Elements Design, where she has gone on to complete hundreds of commercial and residential design projects. Kristin finds great fulfillment in working with clients to creatively solve problems by seeking to understand how they desire to work and live in their spaces. Kristin has been blessed to serve clients in educational, commercial, retail, and residential settings with a full complement of design services, including programming, floor plans, cabinet details, and material selections.

Today, Kristin continues to create and inspire as designer and owner of Align Creative Design Co. Her passion is to work with clients to create holistic spaces that align with their values, tell their stories, and share grace in spaces that inspire hospitality and community. 

When Kristin is not busy designing and dreaming, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Matt, and their six children: Naomi, Simon, Owen, Elsie, Michelove, and Dawensky. They find great joy in being together as a family, whether they are enjoying the outdoors, hanging out in their home, or just being. Kristin feels that she is where God wants her, living out His call for her and enjoying the blessings He has given her. 

Ronni Postma

Designer

Ronni comes with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art and a Minor in Public Relations from Northwestern College. Ronni has experience in the residential design field and on construction sites, with customer service and project management. She joined the Align Creative Design team in January 2023.

Ronni is personable, relational, detail-oriented, organized, creative, and super sweet. Ronni will further bring out the best qualities of Align Creative Design and help us expand into new drawing programs and services.

Ronni enjoys spending time with Grant, her high school sweetheart, and their three children, Julian, Zion, and Vaylin. As a family they love playing games, going swimming, playing outside, visiting the farm, and having movie nights! In addition to keeping up with their kids, Grant and Ronni enjoy working on various house projects.

Jennie Droog

Assistant | Client Relations

Jennie has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Marketing and a Minor in Accounting from Dordt University. She joined the Align Creative Design team in February 2020.

She uses her relational, organizational, and creative skills to assist with social media, client relations, and various administrative tasks. She enjoys developing processes and procedures that allow us to provide the best client experience.

Jennie enjoys spending time with her family, especially her two adorable nieces. In her free time, she loves to read, bake, hang out with friends, and spend time at the lake!
