Kristin Mellema

Principal Interior Designer & Owner

A lifelong Iowan, Kristin Mellema grew up in small town Orange City, Iowa, which she currently calls home base. Kristin attended Dordt College before moving on to South Dakota State University to pursue her passion for Interior Design. She graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design and a minor in Business Administration.

Kristin began her professional career practicing commercial design at an architectural firm in Des Moines, Iowa, and later as an on-site designer at a large manufacturing company in central Iowa. In 2006 she launched her own design firm, Elements Design, where she has gone on to complete hundreds of commercial and residential design projects. Kristin finds great fulfillment in working with clients to creatively solve problems by seeking to understand how they desire to work and live in their spaces. Kristin has been blessed to serve clients in educational, commercial, retail, and residential settings with full design services.

Today, Kristin continues to create and inspire as designer and owner of Align Creative Design Co. Her passion is to work with clients to create holistic spaces that align with their values, tell their stories, and share grace in spaces that inspire hospitality and community.

When Kristin isn't busy designing and dreaming, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Matt, and their six children: Naomi (and her husband Dyson), Simon, Owen, Elsie, Michelove, and Dawensky. They find great joy in being together as a family, whether they are enjoying the outdoors, hanging out at home, or simply being together. Kristin is also involved with her church and her children’s schools by serving on various teams; additionally, she serves on the foundation board at Orange City Area Health System. Kristin feels that she is where God wants her, living out His call for her and enjoying the blessings He has given her.

Ronni Postma

Designer

Ronni holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art with a Graphic Design Emphasis and a Minor in Public Relations from Northwestern College. Ronni has years of experience in the residential design field and on construction sites, including design, customer service, and project management. She also has a vast knowledge of flooring materials, installation practices, and furniture options from her previous employment.  She joined the Align Creative Design team in January 2023.

Ronni is personable, relational, detail-oriented, organized, creative, and super sweet. Ronni will further bring out the best qualities of Align Creative Design and help us expand into new drawing programs and services.

Ronni enjoys spending time with her husband (and high school sweetheart), Grant, and their three children, Julian, Zion, and Vaylin. As a family, they love playing games, going swimming, playing outside, and having movie nights! In addition to keeping up with their kids, Grant and Ronni enjoy maintaining and improving the farm as well as various house projects.

Ellie Martinsen

Designer

Ellie joined the Align Creative Design team in July 2025 after graduating from Kirkwood Community College with a degree in Interior Design and Interior Architecture. She enjoys the many different aspects of interior design, from getting to know clients & understanding their vision to selecting finishes and seeing the design come to life during installation. For Ellie, there is something especially rewarding about watching all of the details come together to create a space that feels beautiful & functional.

Ellie sees her creativity as a gift from God and is grateful for the opportunity to use that gift to serve others. She feels confident she is exactly where the Lord has called her to be in this season & looks forward to meeting new people along the way. Ellie has blessed both our clients and our studio with her care for people and her passion for creating spaces that are beautiful, functional, and welcoming.

Outside of work, Ellie spends her time traveling, cooking, golfing when the weather permits, and making memories with family and friends. She also loves getting outdoors and unwinding at home with her dog and a good cup of coffee.

Jennie Droog

Assistant | Client Relations

Jennie has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Marketing from Dordt University. She joined the Align Creative Design team in February 2020.

Jennie uses her relational, organizational, and creative strengths to assist with social media, client relations, and a wide range of administrative tasks. She loves creating systems and processes that support a seamless client experience, and she manages product ordering and inventory to ensure projects stay organized and on schedule. You can often find her unboxing deliveries, updating spreadsheets, and jumping in wherever help is needed.

Outside of the studio, Jennie enjoys time with her family, especially her nieces and nephew. In her free time, she loves reading, running, meeting friends for coffee, and spending time at the lake. Jennie is an active volunteer in our local community and serves on the Tulip Festival Executive Committee, the marketing team for Katelyn’s Fund Orphan Ministry, and the media, hospitality, and children’s ministry teams at her church.
